Sigler
Machine Company is a family owned and operated business. It was founded in
1976, with a few lathes, a drill press and milling machine, in a barn in
Princeton, MA. The first emphasis was on the wire industry which was
prevalent in Worcester County. Sigler Machine went from part repair, to
machine rebuild, to building new wire machinery. In the year 1976, the owner
Larry Sigler even made a cannon for our country’s Bicentennial!
As Sigler Machine
grew, Larry and Sue Sigler knew they had to grow with the times. They rented
a building in the Princeton Business Park, which was formerly an Antique
Auto Museum. They added grinders, saws, more lathes and milling machines.
They also expanded their customer base to all types of companies and large
companies.
They continued
to make parts for the wire industry and also machine building industries,
medical, computer, and automotive industries. In 1982, Larry even converted
his motorcycle into a three wheeled sports car called the Sigler Cycle Car.
With Larry’s engineering expertise, customers would also rely on him for
research and development projects and new prototypes. In 1988 Sigler Machine
Company purchased the first of many Computer Numerical Control machines. By
the time they outgrew their facilities in Princeton, they had occupied three
buildings, grew to a dozen employees and over one hundred customers.
With the growing
economy of the 1990’s, Larry and Sue were able to purchase property in their
current location, 3 Northeast Blvd, Sterling, MA. and build a machine
company to meet their present demands and future expectations. They
constructed 7500 sq ft of space with a 10 ton overhead bay crane in order to
machine larger work. They purchased several horizontal boring machines, one
of which is also CNC, can handle parts 12’x 12’ x 12’, and made parts for
the space station. Because Sigler Machine can handle larger parts and
weldments than most machine shops, yet keep the capacity to machine precise
small parts, they have continued to grow.
Today they are a
progressive machine company with, not only, CNC horizontal boring mills and
CNC milling machines, but CNC lathes, CNC Vertical Turret lathe, large saws
and precise inspection and measuring equipment. They build machine parts for
every industry imaginable and employ the most experienced machinists. Though
they have grown in capacity, they are still a family business that keeps a
very personal touch with its employees, customers and suppliers. They hope
